Congratulations to 4s on having the name returned, and thanks to CCP on making it so.

I saw on the 4s community forums earlier today that they were still in contact with the GM's. Glad to see that there was communication which of course most of us were not, and will never be privy to. Hell, alot of the information in this only the senior GM's and Dev's know about.
*sits back and thinks*
Intersting to see how this has developed and will continue to develop in the community as a whole and between various players and even intra alliance and corp.
Certainly been some good arguments and discussions put forward by both sides. While I was arguing I guess on the "for" side I actually came around to Don Zolas argument - at least partially.
Now question is, has this done irrepirable damage to the community or is it accepted that it was a bad series of circumstances and screw ups from CCP and the community learns and moves on as a whole?

Originally by: Avon 4S tried A. Repeatedly.
CCP then said that their name was gone and was not comming back and that option A was no longer open.
However, like Joshua says, might be worth speaking with some of the 4s peeps, like Shone, Avon (possibly at their website), as they say they were STILL in communications with GM's over this whole issue and still working things through. Alot of people were up in arms going mental while 4s just quietly did what they were asked to do . . . and it worked. Eventually.
And by what i read on their forums, Shone's apparently got confirmation it wasn't 4s that crashed the server.

me, I'm waiting to see 4s's announcement whether it be on their forums or here, that might clarify some of the issues and put paid to the hearsay.

Edited by: Trooper B99 on 10/11/2005 10:28:46 On their own community forums?
EDIT: possibly, but I'm sure it would clear up afew issues people have regarding various points. Might even calm afew people down and help with the "moving on" process.
Wait and see i guess.

Originally by: Avon We have seen the problems caused by selective enforcement of the EULA, and yet we also see a thread on this forum about the creation of can art. Can art and dumping shuttles are both in violation of the same clause in the EULA, and yet again we see selective enforcement.
Avon, have you petitioned active area (at gates and station) and non-active (at moons or planets) area can art sucessfully or have a link that shows that active and non-active area can art has it has been confirmed to be a violation of the EULA?

Originally by: Avon See the other thread, it belongs there, not here.
Well, don't mention it here then. I'll ask the question in that thread and you can reply there.

I don't want either everything banned or allowed, that isn't the issue with selective enforcement. What I want are rules that are enforced fairly and equally. If something is not allowed, then it should be the same for everyone. If something is allowed, then it should be the same for everyone.
How hard is that to understand?
Would you say that intent and level of doing something has any part to play Avon and that its not completely cut and dried?

Originally by: Avon The rules should not be subject to interpretation. Seriousness and intent should decide the sentence, not the verdict.
Interesting point, but I would say in response that rules cannot possibly cover every occurance and so they have rules and the GM guidlines that go with them that help with rule interpretation in any given situation.

Originally by: Avon National: Inclusive. Of all people living in a geographical area with defined borders. Nationalist: Exclusive. Of ethnic strain with specific traits, usually associated with a specific geographical area.
There is a big difference.
Well, in relation to the Serbian 4s symbol, it was more of a nationalist symbol, but was made a national symbol in 2004 by an act of parliament. However, its on State Serbian flags, not the actual international Serbian flag.
But anyways, yeah, this whole fiasco is over with isn't it? unsticky?
